Conducting Inspections
Step 6: Violations & Deficiencies
How to formally flag items that require corrective action or notice issuance.
Not every Fail finding rises to the level of a formal violation. The Violations screen consolidates all Fail items and lets you designate which ones require a formal violation notice or corrective action order.
Violation vs. Deficiency
- Deficiency — A failed item that needs repair but does not trigger a formal notice. The administrator tracks it internally.
- Violation — A failed item that requires a formal notice to the property owner or tenant, often with a compliance deadline.
Whether an item becomes a formal violation is typically determined by your organization's policy or local regulations. When in doubt, consult your administrator before marking an item as a violation.
